①『接続詞』

『接続詞』とは文章と文章をつなぐ接着剤のような役割。

大切なのは『日本語は後』『英語は前』の違いがあること。

• as～『～ので、だから』(＝because)

  You must drink as you have brewed.

  「あなたがいれたのだから、自分で飲まなければいけない」

• as ～ 『～のように』

  As the old cock crows, so crows the young.

  「親鳥が鳴くように、(そのまんま)若鳥が鳴く」

• and ～ 『そして～』
  『and』は『等位接続詞』であり、文のはたらきの同じもの同士をつなぐ。
  訳すときは、前から訳してつないであげればよい。

  「２匹の犬がひとつの骨を争っい、そして、３匹目の犬がそれを持って逃げる。」
  これは『文』と『文』をつないでいる例。

②『the ＋ 形容詞』＝『形容詞 ＋ people』

『the weak』＝『weak people』　「弱い人々」＝「弱者」

『the brave.』＝『brave people』　「勇敢な人々」＝「勇者」
